Why You Should Choose NeoGraftⓇ for Your Hair Restoration Procedure

Hair loss is a common problem for both women and men, and unfortunately, it’s a problem that tends to become even more common as we get older. The good news is, today there are more options than ever when it comes to restoring your hair and helping it appear thicker, fuller, and sexier.

At Luminary Dermatology, our team offers a variety of hair restoration treatments, including the advanced NeoGraft® hair restoration system. Here, learn how NeoGraft works and why it may be a really good choice to restore your healthy hair.

The benefits of NeoGraft

NeoGraft is a hair transplantation technique that uses follicular unit excision (FUE) to transfer hair from one part of your scalp with lots of hair to an area of thinning or balding. Instead of using manual techniques to transfer hair, NeoGraft uses special technology to make both of these steps more precise, accurate, and comfortable.

During hair graft removal, NeoGraft relies on pneumonic pressure to gently extract individual follicles. The pressure device creates highly focused suction that removes follicles without damaging them.

Advanced technology

For implantation, NeoGraft uses a special device designed to both make the incision and implant the follicle. This approach enables your provider to make tinier, more precise incisions for less trauma to the transplant site.

Combined, these semi-automatic techniques preserve more healthy scalp tissue while protecting the follicle itself from damage. As a result, NeoGraft supports optimal graft survival for better results than with a manual FUE technique alone.

You can also expect much smaller scars and more comfort following your graft. Greater precision also results in less bleeding and reduced risk of nerve damage.

What to expect during a NeoGraft treatment

NeoGraft is performed right in our office using a local anesthetic to numb your scalp and keep you comfortable. You may feel dull pressure while the hair is being harvested and transplanted, but it won’t be painful.

During your treatment, your provider positions the NeoGraft device over your scalp, first to extract follicles from the donor site, then to transplant them. While the device uses automated technology, your provider controls the device and oversees every step of treatment.

Hair transplantation typically takes a few hours. Afterward, your scalp will be bandaged and you may feel some discomfort as the local anesthetic wears off. We’ll prescribe medication or advise over-the-counter acetaminophen depending on your needs. You shouldn’t take ibuprofen or aspirin, since these can cause bleeding at the sites.

Within a day or so, scabs form as part of the normal healing process. We provide complete aftercare instructions, but in general, you’ll need to avoid wearing hats and doing strenuous activities for a couple of weeks.
